The start date for the Vacation Research Project is agreed on between the Student and the
Supervisor, in general most begin at the beginning of December. A copy of the letter agreement
signed by your head of department/school will also be forwarded to you for your information.

  1. Mentor the student through the research project
  2. Prepare your student for the Big Day In event:
    • Assist in the preparation of a 15-minute presentation on the project, suitable for an
audience of their peers on the templates provided by AMSI.
    • Arrange an opportunity for a trial run of the presentation locally. The aim is to provide
feedback from experienced presenters so that students can improve their presentations
      before the Big Day In
    • AMSI strongly encourages supervisors to attend their student’s presentation at the Big Day
In, both to provide support and to assist with questions if required. To assist with your
travel, the AMSI Travel Fund is available; you will need to get approval from your Head of
Department to access this funding. For more information – http://www.amsi.org.au/travel
  3. Advise AMSI by email if the student you’re are supervising withdrawals from the program
  4. Along with the student, be responsible for proof reading the final Research Report, which will be
uploaded to the Vacation Research Scholarship webpage.
