Robert Dusanovic is a Bachelor of Science student at The University of Melbourne. He is currently completing a Major in Physics and a Diploma in Applied Mathematics. He intends to pursue a Master of Science degree, specialising in either Pure Mathematics or Mathematical Physics. His summer project will be on topological invariants in quantum systems.
Aside from academia, he also enjoys swimming, basketball, and playing guitar.
Topological invariants in quantum systems
The goal of the project is to find a topological invariant for 1D quantum systems of parafermions, particles with a Z(N) exchange statistics that have been predicted to arise from the fractionalisation of electrons. Besides formulating a concrete hypothesis, this will also involve an analytical and/or computational verification.
