Hydrodynamic Particle Trapping in Microvortices
This project explores a recently observed and unexplained phenomenon: the trapping and manipulation of small particles in microvortices. It will involve a combination of asymptotic and numerical methods in an effort to identify the key physical mechanism. This work will be conducted within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Melbourne, in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science (ACEx).
