Jecinta Jaarola

Curtin University

Jecinta is a second-year student at Curtin University, who is currently studying the Bachelor of Advanced Science, majoring in Data Science. Besides her primary research interest in data science, she has always thoroughly enjoyed all forms of scientific endeavours, with an emphasis on chemistry, aerospace engineering and physics. Hailing from Collie, a country town in southwest W.A., she has consistently utilized opportunities that have paved her path to success. For example, in 2015 she attended the Curious Minds program for females in STEM in Canberra and gave a presentation focusing on Australia’s need for a space agency. Following, in 2018 she participated in the Questacon Invention Convention, also in Canberra, and constructed an electromagnet prototype for collecting space junk. Throughout her academic career, she has received numerous scholarships and awards for her excellent work ethic and high standard of work, such as the Harry Perkins scholarship from Curtin University and the Manea Senior College Gold Scholarship. Once she has completed her degree in Data Science, Jecinta aims to apply her skills and knowledge in this field to solve local and global problems, and further our knowledge in all fields of science.
