Compact Quantum Groups

The Zappa-Szep product is a way of forming a new group from two old groups. It generalises the direct product and semi-direct product constructions. In this project we look into introducing this construction for compact quantum groups, which are noncommutative analogues of function spaces on groups. We will focus on discovering new examples.

The University of Sydney

Yee is a third-year student at the University of Sydney studying a Bachelor of Science, majoring in pure mathematics as well as financial mathematics & statistics. One of her favourite things about studying maths is seeing the interplay between different areas of maths, and her least favourite, falling into an infinite stack of tasks when revising and forgetting how to get back to what she was initially doing. She has developed hidden Tetris competencies by spending the majority of her 120 contact hours in English Advanced class playing Tetris Battle 2P.
